Cleese stars as St. Peter, the most heavenly of management consultants. He stands at the Pearly Gates awaiting Richard Lewis, the victim of a premature heart attack. The reason? Unnecessary chaos and self-inflicted pressure due to poor organizational skills and an inability to delegate. Through a series of flashbacks, St. Peter points out that Lewis’s mortal sins were leaving jobs unfinished, missing deadlines and generally making life miserable for coworkers. After reviewing a checklist of “II Deadly Organizational Sins,” St. Peter grants the executive sinner a second chance at management life.

Part 2: Salvation
In the 1996 remake of Part 2, St. Peter realizes his task is not over. Lewis still needs to learn how to set priorities, schedule time for active tasks, and allocate time for reactive tasks. The fine art of delegation, and using tiny management aids such as automated and personal calendars, are just a few of the lessons Lewis must learn before he can truly call himself a manager.

Part 3 looks at his people management skills, which are severely lacking. Even worse, he blames his subordinates for failures of his own making. Exasperated, St. Peter illustrates Lewis’s inadequacies and shows him that subordinates can do a good job only when they know exactly what they’re supposed to be doing.
