a Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Briefing

Featuring:
Jerry Porras
Lane Professor of Organizational Behavior and Change
Stanford Graduate School of Business

Program Highlights:

  • Core values and beliefs of enduring, visionary companies.
  • Debunks the myth of the charismatic leader.
  • How enduring companies adapt to and drive change.

Dr. Jerry Porras and his colleague Jim Collins studied the organizational (life) histories of  eighteen visionary companies, with the purpose of discovering their most significant differentiating characteristics. Porras and Collins then used these differentiating characteristics to create a conceptual framework for managers seeking to build a company of enduring greatness. Dr. Porras describes this framework and its two fundamental components - an organization's core ideology and its drive for progress.

Dr. Jerry I. Porras, currently the Lane Professor of Organizational Behavior and Change at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, is the director of Stanford's Executive Program in Leading and Managing Change and teaches courses in leadership, organizational development, and interpersonal dynamics. Dr. Porras consults for companies worldwide, in a wide variety of industries.
