When Colors Bleed is a 35-minute film from the Koch Crime Institute that demonstrates the dangers of gang involvement.

Learn about gang culture as former gang members, police and sheriff's department detectives and correctional officials share their perspectives on juvenile gangs. The film also contains a performance by three Topeka rap artists who have laid down their rhymes to help teach people about the dead-end road a gang member can hope to travel. Every community needs to be aware that the culture of gangs is pervasive throughout our society. Gangs influence every ethnic, social and economic level of society, and have an impact on all of us as well as our children. Run time 35 minutes

KEY LEARNING POINTS

  • Learn how to recognize and deal with gangs
  • See how other communities are addressing this issue

COMPLIMENTARY REVIEWS

"I am pleased to endorse WHEN COLORS BLEED. This video offers insightful information about gang culture and how any community can be affected by gangs. Every community should be aware of the potential for gang activity and how vulnerable our children are in becoming involved with a gang. This video shares information about gangs that parents, teachers, law enforcement officials, community leaders, civic groups, etc. should know regarding the influence gang activity has on our society." - Carla Stovall, Attorney General, State of Kansas.

"When two or more people gather in the name of a criminal gang, trouble follows. Most of us find it hard to understand how a youth we know might be pulled into a criminal gang. With understanding comes the possibility of action. WHEN COLORS BLEED makes it possible for us as families, citizens and professionals to see a path of united, personal and community action. Whether your community is rich or poor, small or large, they need to see WHEN COLORS BLEED." - Dennis D. Embry, Ph.D. President, the PAXIS Institute.
