a Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Briefing

Featuring:
Raymond J. Lane
Former President and Chief Operating Officer
Oracle Corporation

Program Highlights:

  • Creating key management objectives.
  • Building customer / corporate relationships.
  • Investing in employees.

Ray Lane discusses the importance of balancing talent and corporate values to keep a company in growth mode. Using Oracle as a case study, he describes the five criteria essential to maintain growth: opportunity, a differentiated product, smart people willing to take risks, leadership, and funding. Too often companies fail to grow because they stand in the path of progress. Lane stresses the importance of flexible leadership that values products and employees equally.

Raymond J. Lane, a partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers, is now Chairman of the Board at SeeBeyond Technology Corp., an integration software company in Los Angeles County. Mr. Lane is the former President and COO of Oracle Corporation, responsible for planning, communicating, and implementing policy and strategy decisions formulated by the firm's Executive Committee. Mr. Lane has also held the positions of Executive Vice President of Oracle and President of Worldwide Operations. Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Lane was Senior Vice President of Booz-Allen & Hamilton.
