Change occurs everywhere – in business, education, and our personal lives. The secret to controlling it is to embrace it; but most of us resist change, creating a feeling of discomfort or anguish within ourselves. Jennifer James communicates how accepting change can allow us to explore new strengths in ourselves and provide a chance to reach out to others and make a connection.
As a lecturer and consultant on issues regarding managing change, working relationships, sexual harassment, and stress management, Dr. James has become a mentor for some of America's most prominent businesses and education groups. Utilizing common sense in combination with her own personal philosophy, Dr. James increases the productivity of organizations. Her strategies are hallmarks for the education sector as well as for the social service organizations.
Dr. James is a formally trained cultural anthropologist. She received her M.A. degree in anthropology and psychology in 1967 and her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology in 1972, both at the University of Washington. Dr. James was an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Washington Medical Center. Her work has been published in over forty journals, and she has authored seven books, including Inner Management, which she co-authored with Ken Blanchard.
Dr. James is a columnist for The Seattle Times and an advisor to the Committee for Children, a non-profit organization committed to the prevention of child abuse.
