Greetings from The Richardson Co. Training Media

This email provides your monthly update regarding new management and employee
training resources, from a variety of content producers, released since our
April 2009 newsletter.

In this issue:

  • avoid Swine Flu panic with brand new training program on the H1N1 Flu (DVD)
  • encourage employees to drive safely and avoid aggressive driving (DVD/VHS)
  • improve workplace and employee safety with new training programs (DVD)
  • make a positive impact today with new customer service training series (DVD)\
  • squeeze more value from your budget with these budget-friendly programs (DVD/VHS)

We are featuring a timely release of the first training program on the H1N1 Flu, also known as the Swine Flu.  Avoid panic and clarify the facts.  This new, budget-friendly, training program will help your organization prevent and prepare for potential outbreaks. http://www.rctm.com/8812.htm

Aggressive and inattentive driving contribute to a sad number of driving-related deaths each year. The producer of one of the most popular training programs on safe driving, Driven to Distraction (http://www.rctm.com/8611.htm), has released two more impressive programs in their safe driving series. Before You Turn The Key (http://www.rctm.com/8808.htm), shares simple precautions to take before you begin any trip in your vehicle. The newest program in this series, Emotional Wreck (http://www.rctm.com/8807.htm), outlines how to avoid, and defend against, aggressive driving.

Help prevent violence in your workplace with a couple of new training programs.  Last month we featured the program, Flash Point: Recognizing and Preventing Violence in the Workplace (http://www.rctm.com/8774.htm). This program received very positive feedback, so we are featuring it again. In addition, the same producer has released a new program on how to prevent and respond to campus active shooter and hostage situations. This new program, Shots Fired on Campus (http://www.rctm.com/8776.htm), is a recommended resource for any school or campus location. And, last but not least, a very intriguing program from this same violence prevention training producer is designed for the expatriates and travelers on your teams. The Safe Passage Travel Companion (http://www.rctm.com/8778.htm) is the perfect resource for your world travelers.

We also mentioned the new Service Impact! Series (http://www.rctm.com/8791.htm), customer service training program, last month. The Service Impact! Series is another resource that is receiving strong feedback from viewers. It also represents a fantastic value for the price of only $895 for the entire five-part series.

Many of you have shared your frustrations with ever-tightening training budgets. As a result, we are sharing a couple of methods of finding lower-cost, but effective, training resources on our website. We hope these search tips will prove useful for you. If there is something specific you are seeking, however, please do not hesitate to contact us for specialized search assistance.

Sincerely,

Walt Richardson

Encourage employees to drive safely and avoid aggressive driving (DVD/VHS):

Two new safe driving programs will help your employees avoid vehicle-related accidents and injuries. These programs would be excellent additions to your driver education and wellness training initiatives.

Emotional Wreck - avoiding and defending against aggressive driving
Produced: April 2009
Aggressive driving is responsible for 1,500 deaths each year. Give your employees this eye-opening look at what constitutes aggressive driving, what contributes to it and how one driver's acts can cause a "domino effect" of bad decisions that may lead to tragedy. After watching this dramatic expose of the dangers of impatience, selfishness, obliviousness and competitiveness behind the wheel, your employees are sure to take a deep breath and drive as if their lives depend on it. You and your employees will watch as the four main characters are egged on by the narrator who is riding shotgun or in the backseat with each of them. They unwittingly play right into his hands by getting impatient, allowing distractions, being aggressive, driving to "win" and ignoring the rules and other cars on the road. Watch with horror as he brings one scenario to a tragic end.

  • Learn the official definitions and see examples of aggressive driving.
  • Understand its causes and effects.
  • See past deadly psychological traps.

Apply safe driving practices to avoid or defend against aggressive driving.
An online preview of this new training program on aggressive driving is available via our website now. Complimentary DVD previews are also available via ground shipping).

Before You Turn The Key is a program about what we need to do every time we get in a vehicle, before we turn the key. We'll follow the main character, Highway Patrolman Ben Sullivan, as he describes the incidents that could have been avoided if people would only take the time to think and pay attention to their cars. We will see the loss of a young child and the emotional distress
caused by the carelessness of a driver. The program will show how making the right choices before you turn the key in any vehicle may save a life: maybe even your own.

  • Be able to custom fit almost any vehicle to their body.
  • Know how to properly adjust their mirrors to achieve optimum view.
  • Understand the importance how safety belts and airbags work together.
  • Know the importance of a walk-around inspection.
  • Understand that various seat adjustments are for comfort and safety.

Shots Fired on Campus: Guidance for Surviving an Active Shooter Situation
"Shots Fired!"...the last thing you'd expect to hear at your college or university.
Unfortunately, this contemporary, violent event is occurring in our schools with catastrophic results. The Center for Personal Protection and Safety is proud to announce the release of an instructional DVD and training program designed to empower students with knowledge and strategies for preventing and surviving an active shooter situation.
"Shots Fired On Campus" provides the individual student with critical guidance on how to recognize and survive an active shooter situation.
Training Topics:

  • The protective shield and survival response options.
  • Distinctions between an active shooter and a hostage event.
  • Reacting to law enforcement or SWAT response teams.
  • Key information you need to relay to law enforcement response teams.
  • Pre-incident indicators/behaviors of concern/triggers.
  • Stalking and intimate partner violence.
  • Preventive measures to avert campus violence.

This instructional DVD training program will enable participants to recognize warning signs and learn how to respond to them. While campus shootings are rare, assaults, intimate partner violence, and stalking are not uncommon. Violence is almost always evolutionary, with warning signs along the way. They will learn what is meant by campus violence, recognize common myths about campus violence, and learn to recognize behaviors of concern before violence occurs.
